Education and Professional Experience
In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. In 1985, he completed his specialty training in general surgery and took his doctor’s degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. His doctor’s dissertation was entitled “Complications in Microvascular Tissue Transfer: The Consequences  of Post-Operative Venous Thrombosis”. In 1989, he was appointed assistant professor for surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. In 1996, he was awarded the title of Privat-Dozent.

Since 1973, he has been employed at the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns, University Medical Centre Ljubljana. In 1985, he received a Fulbright grant for advanced training in microvascular tissue transfer. From 1991 to 1995, he was head of Saud Al Babtain Hospital Center for Burns & Plastic Surgery in Kuwait. In 1997, he founded the Surgical centre Rožna dolina in Ljubljana.
